Create an account

The very first thing you need to do is create an account with a username that DOES NOT RESEMBLE YOUR REAL NAME. Click on the log in/create account link at the top right corner of the page and then click "create account."

Accounts that closely resemble real names will be suspended. This rule protects your privacy since what you write here may be on the web for a long time.

I already have an account, but I didn't add my class/school

You may create an account without adding a class/school, but if your teacher is assigning things on the site, then you need to make sure you add yourself to the correct class! If you already have an account, simply click on "preferences" at the top of the page to add a school. Once you select a school and click "save" THEN you will be able to add classes for that school. If you change schools, you need to click save before you can select a class in that school.

I couldn't find my class/school

If your class is doing a project on Science Online, then your school and class should be listed. If it's not, please email scienceonline@cc.gatech.edu.

I can't remember my password

When you click on the log in/create account link at the top right corner of the page, there is a button to email your password. This works if you provided an email address when you signed up. If you didn't provide an email address, please email scienceonline@cc.gatech.edu to reset your password.

Customize your Userpage

Once you create an account, you automatically get a userpage too. This is your personal page on Science Online where you can post information about what you are working on, your favorite classes, whatever. Here's an example: Andicat's userpage. There are two rules for personal pages:

  1. DO NOT POST ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION ABOUT YOURSELF, including pictures that identify you or your location. This kind of information will be removed from the site no questions asked.
  2. Do not post any material that is inappropriate for a school site. Science Online is an information resource. It's fine to post about your favorite movies, books, etc, but keep it reasonable!

You can find more information about formatting tricks on the editing help page.
